So lately I’ve been having trouble with my tummy. I say lately, I mean for as long as I can remember. Im not over exaggerating, I literally can not remember the last time I felt 100% okay. There is always something wrong with my body, whether its an extremely uncomfortable bloat, what feels like really bad period pains, a flu, feeling sick, constipation. You name it, no matter what time of month, Im always poorly. I’ve been in and out of the doctors now for as long as I can remember trying to figure out whats causing the problem, and getting a proper diagnosis.
Im forever going for different tests, and I recently went for a pelvic ultrasound, because my doctor thought it was my form of contraception that was causing all of these issues. But after the test I was told everything is fine, the doctor switched my form of contraception anyway hoping that would help. But I just can’t seem to find the problem. I keep getting told that everything is fine and as it should be, but I know myself that it is not. This is not a normal functioning body, Ive had this body for 22 years and I know when something does not feel right.
What’s frustrating me the most is that I just don’t know whats causing my pain, and doctors are not helping. I simply want to know what the problem is so I know how to fix it. Ive googled my symptoms (something we should never do) and there are many illnesses that can cause this kind of bloating and stomach pains. So there was no help there either. My most recent appointment with the doctor ended with him predicting I might have celiac disease, so once again more tests for that. But considering I am getting nowhere with the doctor, I’ve decided I’m going to stop sitting around complaining about it and try to take the lead myself and go on a “fix myself” mission.
Ive decided I’m going to keep a food diary and record how I feel after each meal and snack, to hopefully relate my pain to a certain kind of food and see if the problem I’m getting is being caused by what I eat. Im also going to ensure that I drink at least 2 litres of water everyday, to see if I notice a difference in my tummy too, as I’ve been told water retention is quite common and relates to bloating.
I shouldn’t have to put myself through tasks like these, Doctors are paid to diagnose and help you, all it would take is a few simple tests but instead my doctor asks me what my symptoms are and just guesses what it could be and sends me away to “see how I feel in a few weeks”.
Theres no real purpose behind this blog post, I see my blog as a way I can express myself and my thoughts and this is something that has been going on in my life for such a long time, I really wanted to grab my laptop and vent my feelings into a keyboard. I feel a little better now that I have a plan, but I also feel really angry and pushed out because nobody seems to want to help me get to the bottom of this problem. Im simply going to try multiple methods and see how it may or may not help me, from changing my diet to doing certain exercises or yoga sessions!
