It’s been a while since I started this blog, and I’ve learned quite a few things along the way. While I was thinking of what to write for today’s blog I thought wouldn’t it be great if I knew then what I know now? And that sparked the idea of today’s blog post, 10 things I’d tell my beginner-blogger-self. Enjoy! Hopefully, if you’re starting to blog yourself or thinking about making a blog, this might help you!

1. Don’t worry about what everyone else is blogging about.

You don’t have to keep up with the ‘trend’ or do the same as every other famous blogger out there. Write about what YOU want to write about.

2. You are not a professional photographer.

All of your photography does not have to be so damn professional looking all the damn time, you are a blogger, you are a beginner, it doesn’t always have to look perfect. You could have amazing photography and crappy content, people click on your blog to read the post not stare at the photos, okay?

3. Other blogs will be better than yours.

There are people out there, who get paid to blog, there are people out there who have blogged for years to get the amount of views and followers. There is always going to be a blogger who is better than you, and you know what? THATS OKAY.

4. It is not easy to grow.

You are not going to be a famous blogger in 1 month, you are not going to be a famous blogger in 1 year. It is difficult to get followers, there are millions of other bloggers out there, and your main goal is not to become a famous blogger anyway. So just do what you are doing and write your blogs. That’s all that matters.

5. You don’t always have to be original.

Monthly favourites, product reviews, look books. If you want to write a look book blog post, THEN WRITE A LOOK BOOK BLOG POST! Who cares if thousands of other bloggers have done it too, you are not copying, if you want to do it. DO IT.

6. Things don’t always turn out the way you imagined them to be.

Sometimes you have wonderful ideas for blog posts in your head, you picture it to look a certain way and sometimes when you write to post, it doesn’t turn out the way you’d like it to, sometimes the photos you imagined do not look the way you want them to. But that is okay, life would be so boring if everything goes right all of the time.

7. It’s a hobby not a chore.

You started this blog because you love reading blogs and because you love to write. It is not a job, and it is not a chore, you write them because you enjoy it. The moment it begins to feel unenjoybale, you need to reconsider things.

8. It’s okay to miss a day.

Not everyone posts a blog everyday or every week without fail, it’s okay to miss a day! Like I said before, it’s not a job, it’s a hobby.

9. Be yourself.

Your blog is for you to express yourself, and to express your passion. Whether that be your style, your likes, your hobbies, they are YOURS. Don’t pretend to be someone else or write certain blogs just for views or for followers. If you’re not passionate about it, then don’t write about it.

10. Don’t be offended.

Not everyone in the world is the same, some people don’t agree with your opinions or views, some people don’t like what you post about, and some people are just plain mean. Unfortunately it happens, and you must always remember to take negative comments with a pinch of salt, and remember that your are not perfect, and not everyone is a fan.
